Darkroom Door challenge

The challenge is to create a project using Darkroom Door products and only the colours black, white and red. Here's what I came up with:

You've got until midnight on the 31st August to enter. Here are the details. You'd better get cracking - good luck!

Galactic birthday

I designed this card so that I'd have something to give a little boy:

The background is made with dark navy cardstock, spattered with diluted white acrylic paint. It looks like a starry sky, doesn't it?

I made the moon with my circle Nestabilities - I cut one circle and put the die across it to give a crescent. (Does that make sense?).

The sentiment is computer generated, and the owl is Space Owl from Odd Bird Planet.

Thanks for looking!

The circus life

Do you ever feel like this:

Sometimes I think my head will explode, but then I think of life without the craziness, and let's face it, it would just be boring.

I love the chaos that comes with raising three children, and working, an being an internet addict and playing with paper. I might have an almighty TO DO list everyday, but it's all the little things that happen in between that make it interesting, don' t you think?

I have used Tall Tent and Life is a Circus stamps from Odd Bird Planet. Thanks for looking!

Spring clean

I've been fiddling with my blog - you'll notice a few new things around here.

First up is the header photo of some rusty barbed wire. This is a photo I took up at my BIL's place in Urana, NSW. Beautiful red dirt, rusty stuff lying around all over the place, and no one around to ask "what are you taking photos of that for?" They are in their umpteenth year of drought - maybe we should move up there because every time we visit it seems to rain a little bit!

Second change on the blog is the Followers thingy. You can click on it if you want to follow my blog and be notified when I update it.

Third change is the addition of some clocks - Melbourne time, California time and Madrid time. If you live in California or Madrid, please let me know if I've set these up correctly. I have been known to get it wrong LOL.

Speaking of Spring, check out these photos taken at my house on Tuesday night:

Yeah - a freakish hail storm. The children squealed all the way through it - "It's snowing. Woo hoo!" I guess it was exciting. All I was worried about was a) not getting the camera too wet while I was outside barefoot taking photos, and b) mopping up all the water that blew in under the front door. This is the front door mat:

I'll have a card to share with you tomorrow - thanks for stopping by!

Banner of love

This is one of the projects I completed with my August A la Tarte kit from Lime Tart:

My girls will have to fight over who gets to hang it above their bed. They have been needing a little more love and reassurance this week - our house was broken into on Saturday night. But I don't want to talk about that. Back to the pretty things in life:

A huge thanks to Liz for the inspiration!

Who loves a sale?

Silly question, right? Click on the pic below for more info on the sale at Lime Tart:

Dirty laundry

I love this punny card:

Get it? Ha ha! Guaranteed to cheer someone up.

I used my brand new tin of Prismacolor pencils for the images. Well, not all 72 of them, just a few. They really do blend beautifully - it's almost like they are mixing together. I did use a watercolour wash of blue for the sky in the background - the pencil colouring repelled the water slightly, so the image wasn't smudged at all.

I used Cathrine's Gnome Laundry and Hang in There stamps from Odd Bird Planet. Paper from Basic Grey, June Bug. Trim - gathered gingham ribbon (it's actually elastic to make it more difficult to work with LOL).

Fly me to the moon

This card has some Basic Grey June bug polka dot paper on it.

Great for a little boy's card with the bright primary colours on crisp white. I pleated the ribbon roughly and machine stitched it to hold it in place as the flames of the rocket. The rocket itself is coloured using Copics.

This is one of many images I coloured in while I was away in Hobart at a conference. Intestinal parasites by day, colouring in at night. It was a fabulous few days away....I even managed to find time to relax in a spa for a couple of hours. And the fudge from Salamanca market - oh my goodness the fudge!

Anyway, back to the card: I used Rocket and Fly me to the moon stamps from Odd Bird Planet.

Hopping now!

Yay! Made it at last. Clearly I need to be supervised a little more closely when it comes to these international events!

Here's my contribution to the Odd Bird Planet Halloween Blog Hop:

I have used Kelly's Voodoo Doll and Be very afraid. You can find these and a bunch of other Odd Bird Planet Halloween stamps here. Here's a close up of the voodoo doll:

Blog hop!

We've decided to have a Halloween inspired blog hop -it will start in just over 24hrs.

Odd Bird Planet design team members will be making cards and other items to spark your creativity. I'll see you back here tomorrow with my project.

ETA: D'oh! One day I will understand the world clock - that day is not today! I'm a little bit time zone conversion impaired. I'll be back ASAP with my blog hop card, now that I've worked out the correct time with a little help from my friends. Please come back in a little while.

Owls....a whole bunch of them!

This would make a great group card, wouldn't it?

With so many Odd Bird Planet owls available, there's sure to be one that represents every member of a group. Just to inject a little more personality into the little guys, I punched some of them out so it looks like they are shy and peeking at what's going on, or a little crooked so it looks like they are non-conformist (there's one in every group, isn't there?), or right at the bottom of the square to make them look short.

From the top left: Owl-bert big owl, Teresa's Muttonchops owl, Flo owl, Karrie's little joe owl, Alma big owl, Teresa's Business owl, Madricaine owl, Irene's Strongman owl, Karrie's Edgar owl, and last but not least, For you (whimsy).

The almost forgotten boy version

Gosh - time flies when you're having fun! Even when it's not fun but you're looking after some little people and some old people, it still flies LOL.

Remember the pirate princess card I made a while ago? Well, I made a boy version of the same card. Essentially all I changed was the colour scheme and I added some star shaped brads instead of pink glitter for the eyes, and voila! Boy card. Almost too easy.
I used Lovely skull n bones, Rock & Roll gothic and Swirly background.

Thanks for looking!

A little magic fairy

This is a card I made using one of the many Stampavie stamps available at Lime Tart. This one's called Lily Magic Fairy - aint she sweet?

I coloured her in using my watercolour pencils - my goodness they are fantastic! It's so easy to push colour around and create high spots. And of course these Stampavie images lend themselves to watercolouring. It's a bit hard to tell but I added some bling to the little stars that surround her.

That's some Sassafras Lass paper there - it suited Lily's colours perfectly. Oh and look - machine stitching and a button....how unusual LOL.

I feel the need...

...the need for speed. Not really - just the need to stamp LOL.

Here are a couple of cards I made using Bombshell Stamps.

These images are from the Speed Shop set.

I used some fabulously retro papers from Cosmo Cricket.

Thanks for looking!

What a bombshell!

I came across Bombshell Stamps some time ago, and my friend Kathi was kind enough to send me some images to play with.

Here's a card I made for their Nautical Challenge:

Isn't she gorgeous? I used Copics to colour her in, then cut her out and mounted her onto another image of herself (I hope that makes sense). I popped a glass pebble onto a little anchor, and added some twine at the bottom to look like rope. Papers are Basic Grey and October Afternoon. These stamps all came from the Mermaid Anchor set.

I"ll be back in a bit to show you a couple more cards.

When the eggs have gone...

...from the Collections pack, the frame that's left can be used for something like this:

I've used some Collections products (6x6 paper, photo, bird) and some vintage music sheets and text. The tie at the top is some torn fabric.

Julie had some samples at SIA made by Audrey and Maxine (I think) - they were magnificent! What a fabulous idea. Now is a good time to admit that I never throw out any of the frame type bits of chipboard. They can always be used for something!

A couple of peeks..

...at this month's creations from my A la Tarte kit. It was full of Basic Grey Lemonade deliciousness:

and my favourite embellishment - buttons!:

Not long now for the gallery reveal. I love this time of month!!

All about Lou

Lou is my youngest daughter Elouise. She recently turned a big 4. Here are a couple of photos from the day:
Lou had kindergarten, and I arranged to help out there that day, because I'm thoughtful/insane like that. It was great seeing her play with a smile on her face and the big old birthday hat on for the WHOLE time!

And here's the card I made for her, with some shiny bits and a little pink and some bling of course!

With my youngest turning 4, I might not be able to pass for 28 anymore. I might have to start saying I'm 29 LOL.

A card I wish I didn't have to send

This is a card I made for our friend Ana:

A few months ago she found out she has breast cancer. Fortunately it was detected early, and so she'll need surgery and radiotherapy - no chemo thank goodness! Ana has beautiful long black hair - it would be a tragedy if she ever lost it.

I wanted to let Ana know that although we're busy living our hectic lives, and we can't visit her all the time, we're still thinking of her and wishing her all the best.
