Seeing Stars - Darkroom Door's new Stars Border Stamp

Hiya! Hope your week is off to a good start.

I have a couple of project ideas for the awesome new Stars Border Stamp from Darkroom Door.

First up is a card and gift combo:

I used some awesome new embossing powder from Ranger called Mixed Media Powder in a colourway called Punch. Hot pink looks fab on kraft don't you think?

Next up is a card using colours that would suit a boy:

This image was fun and easy to layer up! Add some thread and a couple of sparkly diamentes for extra fun:

The full supplies list and a step by step for each of these is up on the Darkroom Door blog.

Have an awesome week!

Butterfly birthday card

This card is a collaborative effort (my 9 yo daughter visited the craft room one night during the school holidays and would have just burst if I didn't let her help LOL!):

The sentiment is from the new Happy Birthday set by Darkroom Door, and the beautiful chipboard butterfly is from Your Creative Wings.

The butterfly has been covered with Metallic Melts, an awesome product made by my mate Beck Beattie. The best way to describe it is an embossing enamel with shimmer. I covered the chipboard shape with Versamark ink, sprinkled on the Patina Metallic Melts, heated it with a heat gun until it was melted and while it was still hot, I stamped the Darkroom Door Flourish Texture stamp into it. In typical fashion, the stamp was a little dirty from my last project, so the butterfly ended up with some brown in her wings, but my daughter was just delighted with the result, so I just rolled with it :)

Darkroom Door's Happy Birthday set

My wish was for a set of Happy Birthday stamps - a Happy Birthday for every occasion, if you know what I mean. It wouldn't be right to put a bold grungy sentiment on a card for Grandma, would it? Or a frilly italic sentiment on a card for a teenage boy who lives on his PlayStation. I wished for big, little, handwritten, different fonts, all in the one set.

Then one day my wish was granted! Check it out, new from Darkroom Door - the Happy Birthday set.

Now I have everything I have ever wanted in a stamp set!  Here are a couple of cards I made with it:

I inked up the stamp using a light blue ink, then added a darker blue around the edges before stamping. The numbers are from the Alphabet Medley set. Papers are by KaiserCraft.

I stamped the Checkered Texture stamp inside the Film frame stamp. I added some spatter with some
Dylusions Ink Sprays, and a couple of larger spatters in light blue ink from the Paint Splats set.

Darkroom Door Carved Birds Card

This stack of Carved Birds puts a fun slant on a card:

I have used a number of VersaMagic ink pads to create an ombre look on the birds. I added some goggle eyes just for fun as this will be going to a young boy.  The sentiment comes from the Simple Sayings set, and the background is the awesome new Grid background.

These cool colours are helping me get through this heat wave. Bring on winter I say!

Spellbinders Butterfly make a wish card

I had a card order from a very important customer - my daughter. Fun card, pretty colours. Right-e-o. I reached for my butterfly dies, and here's the result:

Lots of layers in colours that match the background papers. The background has been roughed up a bit with acrylic paint and gold Glimmermist.

You'll be pleased to hear my client was satisfied with the result, and even said I can expect some repeat business in the near future ;)

If you'd like to know the exact products I have used, please pop over to the Down Under Direct Inspiration blog.

Spellbinders Butterfly Birthday Card

I love putting together cards made from bits and pieces left on my desk.  Here's one such card:

The stamp is from Darkroom Door's String Sentiments set - love that set!

Male birthday card

This image from 100 Proof Press just makes me laugh:

It's The Three Stooges! We took the kids to see the movie some time back, and we all loved it. I computer generated the sentiment, and I'm putting this card away for someone's birthday :) but it could also be used for Fathers'Day.

I used some dark paper in the background and spattered it with some Dylusions spray (love how WHITE it is!). Then I made strips out of some stripe paper (only because I didn't have my stripey washi tape on me at the time). A sprinkle of sequins completes the card.

It's all about you!

I found this awesome image in 100 Proof Press's extensive catalogue:

Isn't she sweet? She's called Girl Playing Dress Up, and I stamped the image, masked it and then put the Film Strip in the background. The image is coloured with Distress Markers, and the alpha stickers are by Prima. I found the feather when I was out on a walk, and I thought it matched the Teresa Collins patterned paper perfectly (try saying that five times fast LOL).

Hope you're having an awesome week!

Surprise Card

I have a fun card to share today:

This is the Chinrahvo in a Teacup from 100 Proof Press stamps. Isn't he gorgeous?

The word is an SRM sticker. I thought it was apt - I'd imagine you would get a surprise finding a chihuahua in your teacup!

This is quite the mash up of patterned papers - 2 different ranges of Carta Bella together with JilliBean Soup. So nice having a colourful scrap box to go through. The banner is a Whiff of Joy die, and the flower centres are Sprinkles from AnnaBelle Stamps.

Sweet little girl's birthday card

Just catching up on posting some work from January :)

This is the card I made for my sweet little niece Isabel for her birthday:

I used Spellbinder dies for the ovals and a Cottage Cutz die for the fairy (I have had my eye on this die for ages - I blame Tenia Nelson for enabling me. Every time she has used this die my heart has skipped a beat!).

The letters are very very very old Making Memories. They are in fact one of my first eBay purchases, and have been in my stash waiting to be used on a special project. Felt good to bust them out :)

Danita Angel birthday card

Here's a birthday card I made using an image from 100 Proof Press called Danita Angel:

I love that she suits young card recipients as well as older ones. She's ageless.

I added a little tea stained seam binding and some flowers and buttons, and the sentiment is an SRM sticker.

A Birthday Card for Mother

This is the easiest step card I've ever made:

Note the perfect cuts and folds.....

This is one of the pre-cut and pre-scored cards available through DownUnder Direct.  All I did was embellish the base with Spellbinders dies and JustRite stamps.

This is the card I made for my mum's birthday, hence the subdued colour scheme. You can find the full materials list on the DownUnder Direct Inspiration blog.

MFT fairy card

I'm finding MFT (My Favorite Things) Pure Innocence stamps perfect for little girl cards. Here's one I made for our great niece/grand niece/our niece's daughter:

I used the Believe in Magic set, some Kaiser 6x6 patterned paper, Nestabilities and the alpha is by Making Memories. Coloured with Copics of course, and just a touch of Stickles added to her wings, skirt and wand.

Hope you're having a magical day!

Kaiser Sweet Nothings birthday card

I had wanted to make one of these step cards for ages, and I found some spare time just after Christmas and got stuck into it. What came out was a card for Mum's birthday:

I used papers from the  6 ½” paper pad and some die cut shapes from the ephemera pack. The happy birthday stamp is from Darkroom Door's String Sentiments set. Almost too easy!
