Halloween themed invitation

Howdy folks!

I have created a Halloween themed invitation I plan to give to my neighbours toward the end of October. Over the fence seems to be the only way we catch up these days with all of us so busy!

I also made a video of the process, and you can find this on YouTube

All products are from Craftie Cafe. I have used a Wplus9 stamp set called Bunny Mask-erade, a Taylored Expressions embossing folder called Woodgrain, and a few Distress Oxide inks.

I fussy cut the little characters by hand, but there's also a die set available for this stamp set - it certainly would have saved me some time!

Thanks for looking!

Products
Distress Oxide ink: Faded Jeans, Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Spiced Marmalade, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Broken China, Wild Honey, Picked Raspberry

New Box Brownies stamp set from Darkroom Door

It was so nice to receive some brownies that aren't going to go straight to my hips! I'm talking about one of the new sets of stamps from Darkroom Door called Box Brownies. It's a collection of images with a vintage photography theme, so a couple of vintage style projects were in order.

First up, a card:

I cut some circles out of scraps of brown cardstock, then stacked the negative pieces to make it look like the iris of a camera. Here's a close up so you can see what I mean:

Next up, I did what I often do with a set of new stamps - make a book. It gives me a really good chance to see how well the images work together. One of the larger cameras was the perfect size for the front of a little accordion book:

and the pages inside gave me a fantastic opportunity to add some Photobooth images from the various sheets Darkroom Door produces:

And just for fun, and to explore the versatility of such an iconic image, I pulled out my fluoro inks and my Alphabet Medley stamp set and went a bit Warhol for a party invitation:

I hope you've enjoyed this little tour around the new Box Brownie set of stamps!

Invitation idea

How's this for an inviting idea?

Le Crystelle are making pre-cut and pre-scored cards in whatever colour Bazzill cardstock you need!  I used the co-ordinating Spellbinders border dies on the patterned paper, and then trimmed it down to size. A little seam binding bow and big blingy button really dress up the outside.

Here's what's going on inside:

A removable card, that's been stamped with a big lace pattern and has some of the patterned paper from the outside.  The idea is that all of the information will be printed in black ink over the top of the stamping.

Full details can be found on the DownUnder Direct Inspiration blog.

Celebrate Life invitation

Most of our celebrations involve food, so when I saw this image from 100 Proof Press, I thought it would make an awesome afternoon tea invitation:

His name is Angel Baker, and I coloured parts of the image lightly with Distress Markers. The beautiful papers are from Pion, and I added some seam binding at the top of the tag which I coloured with Distress Marker.

Mmmmm....the smell of baked goods is filling the air!

The stamp is Happy Dog Face from 100ProofPress. Cute, isn't he?

A baptism

Earlier this month we celebrated my nephew's baptism. Now, I consider baptism a pretty stressful day for all concerned, but especially the poor little baby. Nap times get missed, the kid gets passed around from person to person, kissed by everyone and generally get pulled completely out of routine. The poor little tike gets upset and then there are tears and tantrums (from the parents too!).
Well not my nephew Lucas - he was all smiles. In fact, I'll go as far as saying I've never seen him happier. I think he'll grow up to be a politician!

Here he is in all his finery (everytime I called him Austin he'd giggle):

and here are the invitations I made:

and here is the card I made for him:

and here are the dinosaur canvases I made:

I used Basic Grey Archaic papers and chipboard shapes. I got the idea from a local scrap shop Scrapper's Warehouse - I've been eyeing off their sample for months, and I finally found occasion to buy the stuff and make my own (in my own style of course!).

Thanks for looking!

Where is my little boy?

My shower was interrupted this morning by Jake, asking "Where has your 8 year old gone?" Gone forever! My little boy is now 9 years old.

(If you're wondering where the other candles are, well they were sparklers, and I just didn't get my camera out in time LOL).

Here he is enjoying his birthday present from us - a big bike:

I distinctly remember my 9th birthday - I too got a bike, but unlike Jake, I was unable to ride it outside because I had the mumps. I'm pretty sure Jake had a much better day.

None of us were in the mood for a big party so soon after the death of our BIL, so Sammy and I decided to talk Jake into inviting 3 bestest friends for an evening of fun, food and bowling. Here are the invitations - a bit late, but that's what happens when your mum can't just print any old thing out on the computer and pass it off as an invitation ;)
