Gel Press circle book

Welcome to the Gel Press Earth Day Blog Hop!

We want to encourage you to reuse and recycle with Gel Press.  Have you thought of making Gel Press Prints on old maps?  What about old Christmas cards or even magazines?  Hop around and see what our designers have come up with for this hop.

We will be giving away a prize again for the comments on the Gel Press Blog listing what your favorite project was and why.  We will accept comments from April 20 - April 24.  The winner will be announced April 25th on the Gel Press Company FB page and on Gel Press Junkies FB page!

Here's my project - a circle book:

The covers of my book were made by using my Gel Press 8" round plate on cardboard scraps from a cereal box. The pages are simply photocopy paper that were only printed on one side. Instead of throwing them in the recycle box I have added a thin layer of acrylic paint with my gel plate, covering the printing.  Reusing and recycling - two ways to minimise the impact on our planet. Here's how I put it together:

Step 1
Gather supplies: 8" round Gel Press gel printing plate, acrylic paints of choice (Dylusions here) and a variety of stencils (Stencil Girl and Prima). You'll also need something to print on (thicker cardboard for the covers and some thinner paper for the pages):

Step 2
Print onto the cardboard and paper. I used a brayer to spread the paint onto the gel plate, pulling a plain layer of paint first, then adding a stenciled layer in a different colour. Each piece was printed front and back:

Step 3
Once all the printing was complete, I used a die to cut circles from the cardboard and paper. For a more rustic look, you could just cut around the circle with scissors.

I cut each of these pieces in half, then bound them together with big jump rings. I then decorated the rings with scraps of ribbon in coordinating colours.

Don't the pages look fabulous? I can't wait to write in them!

Good luck!
