Lime Tart Sketch

Don't ya love making cards using a sketch? Sketches are like maps, so virtually all the thinking has been done for you. Great when you're in a hurry.

Check this one out at Lime Tart.
Here are three cards I've whipped up using this sketch and my favourite justjohanna stamps:

Little magnets

I love sticking things to the fridge - kids' artwork, invitations, school notices etc. Over time, all the beautiful magnets I collected on my travels have been damaged and thrown away.

Along come a bunch of little justjohanna stamps, and hey presto - I've got a colleciton of new magnets in just a few minutes. Here's what I did:

1 Stamp a few justjohanna images onto colourful cardstock.
2 Punch them out using a small circle punch.
3 Using Dimensional Magic, glue them onto the bottom of some glass pebbles.
4 Wait for them to dry, and glue some small round magnets to the bottom of them. Done!

Here are some of mine in a little gift box:

Another altered book

The last altered book round went so well, that us Victorians decided to do a round for ourselves. The idea being that we meet to swap books, and do away with posting. Australia Post makes an absolute fortune off people like us!!

This is the first page (always nerve-racking) in Greta's book, whose theme is Colour my World. She wants each page to be a different colour. I happen to know she likes pink, so there it is. I've used UTEE, Angelina fibres, chipboard, acrylic paint, seed beads, polymer clay, buttons and some stamps (PaperBag Studio and Autumn leaves). I pulled out everything I had that was pink, left it out on my desk for two weeks, then put it away and started again. I was up until 4:30 this morning! Yikes. The children had better behave themselves today, or there'll be trouble.........

Some justjohanna excitement

This is sooooo exciting. There's nothing I get more excited about than stamps, and the ultimate excitement for me is BRAND NEW STAMPS! justjohnanna is about to release a bunch of new ones - heaps of new words and sayings, fruity images, more sea creatures and of course more little chicks. Here are a couple of tantalising images, can't wait to get my hands on them!

That "hi" is going to look fabulous embossed in white and coloured in with a white gel pen.
The owl's name is Alistair. I've got plans for him too - dark navy card stock, embossed with gold.
Stay tuned for the release date.

Going Green

These are a couple of card I've made for a submission to Somerset Studio. They are having a green theme for an upcoming edition, so I thought "I can do green". Stamps for the top one are all justjohanna, and the second are Christine Adolph, with Stamp It harlequin and Collecitons script in white for the background. The top one looks a bit washed out - it's actually more green IRL.

What I got up to on the weekend

I had the pleasure of attending a couple of workshops organised by the Calligraphy Society of Victoria as part of their Summer School in Winter (SSIW). The tutor was one of my all time favourite artists - Jacinta Leishman who taught us some interesting transfer techniques, backgrounds, stamping onto velvet and many other tricks you'll be seeing a bit more in my work.
Participants at SSIW are into swapping pins, which is a nice change from swapping ATCs. The photo above is of the pins I swapped. Mine is the pink flower with the button in the centre. I whipped these up when I got home on Saturday night. My four year old daughter punched the flowers for me - she did a better job than I could at that hour. I was exhausted after the workshop - one could almost say "sooky-tired".
