Hush.....I know a secret

This is a little project I completed using my A la Tarte kit from Lime Tart. I made it for my daughter Rachel - the middle child. I'm often hit with the feeling that she misses out on a bit of one-on-one time with me. My youngest child is home with me all day, and my son gets my undivided attention when he reads, or we research something on the internet, or we do his speech therapy work.

So poor little Rachel - not that she'd ever complain - doesn't get much of my time. She was thrilled when I presented her with this piece to hang in her room.

It's basically a chunky white frame with a card front attached to it. Rachel thought the little fairy asleep under the mushrooms was too cute! I added the Pink Paislee glitter to some of the mushrooms, and some of the little diamentes for some extra dazzle. All is not what it seems though.....lift the card front up......

and there's a little hidey-hole, just large enough to secret away some essential girly supplies:

We'll hang it up on the wall where she can reach it, and her little sister can't. I can see this frame being used a lot in the coming months (lip gloss, packets of gum, coins......until LouLou grows tall enough to reach it that is!

Sweet things....

I had some sweet fun playing with this month's A la Tarte kit from Lime Tart. It has in it a cute little sleeping fairy stamp, as well as some Bittersweet papers by Basic Grey. I made this card using both stamps in the kit:

Here's a close up:

and this card with the flower stamp on its own:

Both of these cards has some delicious Pink Paislee glitter on them, and the images are coloured with my Copic markers.

I just didn't get my work done in time this month, so it missed being included in the gallery. Not to worry - the February gallery is brimming with beautiful work from the other DT members - pop over now and take a look.

I've got one more project to share with you soon. I was so excited with this little piece, and I can't wait to share it with you.

News from My Sketch World

My Sketch World has announced their new design teams for the next 6 months - guess who made it onto the card sketch team??

A layout sketch is posted on the 1st of the month, and the card sketch on the 15th. I look forward to working with this team. As you all know.......I love a good sketch!

Here's the card I made with the application sketch:

Stamp is by Odd Bird Planet, paper is Sassafras Lass, chipboard flowers are Buzz and Bloom, felt flower is Remember When Paper Company. The bracket is chipboard cut with a sizzix I think, and the brad is Francheville.

Thanks for looking!

Marti's party

I had a play with this image from InStyle Stamps this week - her name is Marti. She is from the Diva range.

I thought she was perfect for the front of an invitation. An invitation to a stylish cocktail party perhaps? I put a little diamente on Marti's choker - you really can't over-dazzle this image. It cries out for bling!

The Anime range and even a digital download range are now available from InStyle stamps. Check them out here.

Giveaway winner

I've announced the winner of my One World One Heart giveaway here.

I wish I had 195 of these stamps to give to each of the people who left comments, however this time there can be only one winner. Click on the link above to see the announcement on the original post. Thanks for playing everyone!

When you've got something to brag about..

...why not make a book out of it? Here's Jasmine from InStyle Stamps, holding her adorable baby:

Every mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbour of a new baby needs a brag book! And isn't Jasmine the perfect image for the cover?

I used patterned papers from Sassafras Lass and basic Grey, and my Copics to colour the image. The pages inside are blank, but only until I put some photos in there mounted on coloured cardstock and some little journalling spots.

If you pop over to the InStyle Stamps website now, you'll see the new range of Anime stamps (for fans of Japanese cartoons like Manga comics - these were just made to be coloured with Copics!), as well as some DigiDownloads! How exciting is that? I love the little pig and the kissing birds.

Pardon my absence...

...but since my last post, we have experienced the worst natural disaster this country has ever seen.Bushfires have ravaged much of our state - there have been many lives lost (some estimates say upwards of 300!).

There were some fires about 5km from my home, and 5 homes were lost before the fire was brought under control - this fire was started by a thoughtless person fixing his fence with his angle grinder! Unfortunately, it is believed some of the larger fires still burning have been deliberately lit. What sort of repugnant individuals would do such a thing?

It has been very difficult to concentrate on anything with the smell of burnt lingering, and constant reports of devastation on the tv and radio. It makes me even more thankful I have my family around me and we are safe. My heart goes out to everyone affected by these fires, and I praise the efforts of the CFA and other emergency personnel, some of whom are helping others despite their own personal loss. Check this out!

Details are etchy....

Yep - etchy - I attended a class with the uber talented Jenny Crossley today. What a fabulous teacher she is! If you ever get the chance to take one of her classes, I can guarantee you'll love it. She is so generous from the kits she provides, to the knowledge she shares, all taught in an atmosphere of friendly banter. Can you tell I had a fabulous time despite the record heat?

The end product of the class today was an adorable little book pendant. This is my interpretation:
Jenny covered metal etching (we had some chemical fun ;) Then we made the book using copper mesh, vintage book pages, wire and a tintype photo. Here's a close up of the etching:

It was wonderful catching up with friends too - Jo and Sarah, Liz, Sue, Joy and a new friend Claudia. A huge thanks goes to Gail for opening up her home to us rowdy messmakers .....muahhhh.

This is a photo of the group. It was an honour to spend the afternoon with this bunch of ladies.

Top row: Joy, Sue, Gail, Jo and Claudia.
Bottom row (and what nice bottoms they are!): myself, the Master and inventor of the Crozzenator 1000-6000 Jenny Crossley, and Liz.

What a wonderful day!

CRE8

This is a card I made for Cuttlebug Challenges a few days ago, but forgot to post! What I dill! Then today, I've been having all sorts of trouble posting a photo on blogspot. Grrr. Anyway, here t'is:

I used Basic Grey paper from the Phoebe range, rubons from Making Memories and Fancy Pants, and ribbon from Basic Grey Recess range. The flowers were cut using a Cuttlebug die and I distressed the card here and there with an edge distresser by Heidi Swapp and some brown ink.

Here's a close up:
