You warm my heart

This is a card I made for the challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot. We had to make a card for a spouse or friend (or both!). Here's mine:

I used Sassafras Lass papers, Odd Bird Planet stamps (available here in Australia from Lime Tart), black and white gingham ribbon (an all-time fave), a button from my (ever-increasing!) stash and of course my trusty sewing machine. If you look closely, I also distressed the edges here and there.

I Cuttlebugged a border across the blue cardstock underneath (you can just see it peeking out on the very left hand side of the photo above), and I cut out a couple of hearts (from a Cuttlekids die) and a butterfly. The blue cardstock is shimmery, so it's a bit hard to get a front-on photo of this card.

I put this card on my bedside table so that when I woke up this morning it would make me smile.....and it did! My day is already off to a good start :)

February kits at Lime Tart

Here are some little peeks at next month's kits:

The A la Tarte:

The Full Tart:

and the Half Tart:

Which one is your favourite? Pop over to Lime Tart now and subscribe so you don't miss out!

I was there, and I can prove it!

You'll remember me mentioning that Sassafras Lass asked for one of my layouts to display at their booth at CHA (see here).

Well, the very lovely Emily Giovanni has been posting very comprehensive reports from CHA, and guess what - I spotted my LO! Click here to see it too. It's the one on the right under the Woodland Whimsy sign, . This is one excited little Aussie!

While you're over at Emily's blog, check out some more of the new stuff that will be hitting our shores over the next few months. Mind boggling! I'm off to use some of my stash up so I can fit some new stuff into my craft room. It's bursting at the seams!

Don't forget to enter my OneWorld-OneHeart giveaway in the post below :) I'm up to 100 comments already!!

One World-One Heart giveaway

Photo

Comments for this post are now closed.

I'd like to thank everyone who visited my blog during the OWOH fun of 2009. I wish I could have picked all of you!

The winner of the banner stamps is...........

Kayla from living the creative teen life.

YAY Kayla! I've sent you an email, so I hope to hear from you soon.

Over the past few weeks I've been coming across this on many blogs that I visit. This is the third year, and it's getting huge! You can read more about it here. I thought I'd join in the fun. Here's my giveaway:

They are a couple of stamps from justjohanna's Odd Bird Planet, but they are dear to my heart because they were among the first stamps I myself designed!

So - all you need to do to be in the running for these stamps is leave me a comment before the 12th February. I'll draw a name at around midday (Melbourne time), and make an announcement that night. PLEASE MAKE SURE I CAN CONTACT YOU - either leave your email in the comment, or make sure it's on your blog somewhere.

Don't forget to pop over to Lisa's blog for the complete list of participants (there are hundreds!).

I got you babe!

This is a card I made with Jasmine from InStyle Stamps:

Just in time too - our niece Amanda has just had a little baby girl! Remember her wedding I blogged about here? Well, this is what they made - she's called Mia:

Arent' they clever? Amanda is one of those people who are as beautiful inside as they are on the outside - the image of Jasmine reminds me of her so much of her. Elegant and stylish. I'll have a little project using Jasmine coming up over the next few days, so stay tuned!

Valentine's Day card with a twist

The twist is that you weren't allowed to use pink or red on the card. This turned out to be harder than I thought!

I made this for the challenge at the Cuttlebug Spot. Stamp is by Odd Bird Planet.

Best foot forward

I thought this would be a great card to offer someone encouragement.

Stamps are from Odd Bird Planet - you might even pick the little mouse up on sale as part of the Chinese New Year sale. I also used the whimsical frame stamp.

C'est la vie

That's all you'll have left to say if you miss the massive Chinese New Year Sale at Odd Bird Planet!

I used Kelly's eyeball for the flower heads, single stem for the stems, and c'est la vie for this little watercoloured note card.

Don't forget..

...to drop in and see the enormous list of stamps on sale at Odd Bird Planet. You can see the whole list here at the wiki.

This is a card I made using Kelly's fly left (I used the same fly facing right in the previous post). Yeah - it's a Valentine's Day card LOL!

I also used Noel's zig zag stitch, and Fly away with me stamps.

Chinese New Year Sale

...continues at Odd Bird Planet. Check the wiki page for the growing list of stamps that have been added to the sale. Here's a little card I made with one of the images on sale - Kelly's fly right.

I also used Lance right, thought bubble, yum, for you. I used coloured pencils and a watercolour wash for the sky.

All about me

No prizes for guessing what this little book will be about!

I used the Pam and Buster image from InStyle Stamps. Just colouring her dress a different colour gives a whole different feel to the image - see the card I made here. I thought diamentes on her shoes was still a requisite ;), and I drew polka dots on Buster's little jacket so he'd match Pam (this is soooo Paris Hilton!).

This book measures around 4 inches, bound with my new favourite toy - my Bind-it-all. I thought I'd fill it with important things about my favourite subject. I made it little on purpose - I don't want to give myself a big head!

Cuttlebug challenge

I made this card for the challenge here. We had to use our favourite embossing folder, and I really couldn't go past Swiss Dots.

And to keep with the dotty theme, I used some MME paper from my A la Tarte kit from this month.

The chipboard is from Collections - I keep the negative pieces for use in projects like this!

Here's a closeup:

My news....

...I have been asked to join the 1WorldScrap design team!

They are the number one scrapbooking store in Spain, so this presents a very exciting opportunity for me - a chance to combine my Spanish roots and this hobby I love so very much.

I look forward to working with Anke, Sherry and a very talented bunch of designers. I'll be updating the sidebar on my blog with their details, so make sure you pop over and show them some love!

Happy Birthday little Isabel

Monday was my niece's 2nd birthday. She's the teeny tiny Thumbelina daughter of my sister, who is so small she sleeps in a matchbox.

Here she is playing with the window winder at my place a couple of months ago.

And here's the card I made for her:

Do you think everyone will know it's for her? The card is similar to one I made with this month's A la Tarte kit. See if you can spot it in the gallery ;)

I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the dots and to cut the small striped heart and butterfly. The papers are Sassafras Lass from the Sunshne Lollipops wee bundle available from Lime Tart. A couple of dew drops adorn the butterfly - two, because that's how old she is!

testing times!

The comment button had disappeared from my last few posts - HOW ANNOYING!

I think I've fixed it now. I've spent the last few hours in panic mode, and I'm now more proficient in HTML than I ever wanted to be. I've gone back and fixed the aberrant posts, so it's all good now.

Phew! I thought I was going to have to start a new blog or something!

I've got big news on the horizon, so stay tuned!

Lime Tart January gallery

Pop on over and check out what the design team has made with the kits this month - amazing! This is the LO of my girls I came up with:

I love the colour combinations I was able to pull out of the kit this month - they're all so crisp and fresh. There was a metal tile in the kit (see under the words 'you and me'). It came painted black, but I picked the paint off it so that it would blend into the background and show the letters up bit better.

I'm off to relax for a bit before going to work :( I should just be more efficient with my time and just relax at work.....now that's a plan!

A sale!

I love this time of year for so many reasons - including sales! Click here to find details of a massive sale over at Odd Bird Planet. There's a huge list of stamps on special, so pop on over and grab yourself a bargain!

Images like these (picketish fence and make a wish) are available at a 25% discount:

Don't miss this one!

And this is Pam.....

....with her little friend Buster. This is another new image from InStyle Stamps.

I think everyone here knows how much I love polka dots!

I coloured Pam and little Buster with my Copics, and cut the mat out with my new Nestabilities labels set. If you look closely, you can see little diamonds on Pam's shoes. A little bird told me that Buster is going to be available all by himself as a stamp in the very near future - woo hoo!

I'll post some close ups a little later - the children are ravenous and if I don't feed them soon there'll be a mutiny!

Love is in the air........

It certainly is! I think I've had a few days off between making Christmas cards and then getting on to Valentine's Day projects. I love this time of year!

This is a card I made for a challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot.

I used the Birds and Swirls embossing plate, and I found these cute little hearts in the Cuttlekids range. I'm discovering that embossing creates interesting learning opportunities when it comes to photography.

The words are an Odd Bird Planet stamp.

A wedding card

I thought the challenge over at Cuttlebug Challenges this week was a good opportunity to get a wedding card completed. The challenge is to make an all-white card. Again, I had the same problems with photography I had last time I made an all-white card.

Here is this week's card:

The stamp is from Odd Bird Planet. Thanks for looking!

Basic Grey Challenge #17

Over at the Basic Grey Challenge Blog, this week's challenge is to use chipboard. Ha! It would be more of a challenge for me NOT to use chipboard - I love the stuff!

Here's my card:

I used paper from the Mellow range (Equinox to be exact), and some chipboard from ScrapFX. The stamps are from Odd Bird Planet - Thinking of You and one that I myself designed Teresa's Business Owl. I ran the brown cardstock through the Cuttlebug for a wood grain effect.

Tarty goodness

I've just finished playing with this month's A la Tarte kit. Actually, the only reason I've finished playing is a lack of time, not supplies or ideas. The gallery will be opened later this week, but I thought I'd show you one of the cards I made:

I'm amazed with this month's kit - I've been able to make projects that look so different, you'd swear they came from different kits! Can't wait to see the gallery this month - we have two new designers joining us just to add to the general excitement.

Oooh - do you like Darkroom Door stamps? I know somewhere you can get them for under $20! I'll give you a clue - it starts with Lime and ends in ....art. Or you could just click here.

Sweets for my Sweet Thang

Hiya! I'm back with the second project I made with Roxy from InStyle Stamps. It's a jar I've used to present some lollipops (or suckers, or whatever you like to call them). Heeere's Roxy:

I stuck with the same colour scheme as the card I showed you in this post here, the idea being they are given together. Again, I used some Basic Grey papers from the Mellow range because they went well with the colours I'd chosen for Roxy. Here's a close up - you can see the Orange Peel stickles I used on the heart and on Roxy's earrings.

Neat! I'll be back with some projects using other images over the next few weeks, so be sure and pop back often. Thanks for looking.

Ooooo - a giveaway

Not here, but here.
Sharon will be giving away a copy of Somerset in Love. It looks like a wonderful publication.
Pop over and enter - if you win and I don't, can I look over your shoulder while you read it?

Heeeeere's Roxy!

How much excitement can one girl take?

I can tell you my news - I'm Guest Designer for a company called InStyle Stamps. They've brought out a range of funky retro images, and over the next few weeks I'll be bringing you some hip, trendy designs. Pop on over and check them out. Cool eh?

First up, I'd like to introduce Roxy - check out that 'fro!!

Isn't she gorgeous? See what I mean - retro or what? I love playing with these images - time to break out all of those '70's superlatives....far out.....cool......outta sight......catch my drift?

For this card I had to think - what did the 70's mean to me? I came up with orange and green (yikes! did I accidentally ingest some LSD?). I coloured Roxy in with my Copics, then I chose Basic Grey papers from their Mellow range to compliment. It's a retro style card, so I simply had to add some glitter - Orange Peel Stickles to be exact.

I've made something else using Roxy, stay tuned for that project coming this way soon.

I'm going to CHA!!!

Gee I'd like to be able to say that for real one day.

It's not actually me that's going, but one of the layouts I did using the September 2008 A la Tarte kit. This one:

We used Sassafras Lass papers, and Philippa got an email asking if they could use some of our work for the display on their stand at CHA this year.

Woo hoo!

I'm sure there's some of my DNA on that page somewhere - I'm sort of going to CHA, aren't I?

Good times

I'm just loving these holidays! Today I got to sleep in, then went out to lunch with my favourite little people, then from the minute we got home the house was filled with children's squeals and laughter. I think at one stage or another I had all the neighbourhood kids here because I wouldn't let my children outside because of the hot sun. They all had a wonderful time.

Look what happened to me this afternoon:

My sister had to go out and it was easier sans enfants, so I had my neice and nephew here as well! Little Lucas who is just over 2 months old was due for a nap, and I lent him my shoulder. Aint he sweet? I let him stretch out on a playmat before he fell asleep - here are my girls mauling him with kisses:

I've got some exciting news to share very very soon. Here's a little sneak peek:

Welcome to a new year

I hope everyone had a fabulous time - I know I did. It's hard to get back into the swing of things isn't it.....almost as hard as it is to fit back into those jeans after all the eating! This current bout of gastro should help though.....ewwww!

Anyway, here's a card I made for another challenge blog I've discovered. Click here for the details. The challenge is to sand back some Cuttlebug embossing, and for this I pulled out some Coredinations cardstock. I reckon Cuttlebug embossing and Coredinations is a marriage made in heaven!

The stamp is from Odd Bird Planet, the flower is from a stem of silk flowers someone was throwing out, button and ribbon are from my stash, rub ons are Basic Grey, and the laughter tag is from a K & Co noodle box of tags. I used my brand new Nestabilities dies to cut the mounts out.

Here's a close up of the embossing:

I'm always amazed at the detail you can get with those embossing folders.
