Redeeming myself

Back again. Told you I'd be back.

These are my offerings for the current Hero Arts contest. They run it a couple of times a year. It would have to be one of my favourite stamp companies. Their website is one of the best around - heaps of ideas, samples and tutorials. www.heroarts.com

The theme for this contest was "summer". It was hard coming up with summery ideas when you can't feel your toes because they're frozen!

This is a competition I really don't have a hope of winning, the standard is sooooo high. Still, it gives me an excuse to play with my favourite stamps dunnit?

Naughty Me!

I know I promised to write every week, and only 3 posts in and I've broken that promise already. Tut - tut. I have been busy though! Here are some photos I've taken of samples I did for Lesley at Little Bits in Keysborough. She's started a blog now herself - yep - it's time we dragged her kicking and screaming into the 21st century! Go to http://www.littlebitscards.blogspot.com/ and check it out every now and again.

This is a little bunch of tags I did that is actually a sample of a few techniques you can do with Collections products to get some different looks. Stay tuned for class details at Little Bits for Term4. This may well appear!

Next is a large tag I did using the Industria technique taught to me by Julie Van Oosten herself. It was a real honour to meet such a legend in the industry, and to be taught a brand new technique was such a thrill I almost had an incontinent moment. It's basically silver acrylic paint onto chipboard, sponged with Frayed Burlap (a Tim Holtz Distress Ink) and some metallic embellishments. Very very easy and fun.

Here's a little canvas I did using some Collections products. I put Impasto medium on the canvas first, stamped it with a scroll background and waited for it to dry before giving it a very dilute brown wash.

Well, that's it for today - I'll have some more to post soon. Cross my fingers, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.

Pregnancy Journal

No not mine!
This is the journal I made for my sister Lil who is due in late January 2007.
I decided on a purple colour scheme as I wanted to keep it non-gender specific. Plus it's a nice peaceful, calming colour.
This is the cover. I've used some Adele Basheer paper from Scrapbooking Australia, and some ScrapFX letters. There's about 4 metres of ribbon there too!
The other photo is one of the pages I did in pink and blue for the names they're thinking about. I think these papers came out of a bulk pack of scrapbooking papers I bought at Big W. The alphabet stamps are from Purple Onion in the States. I love their stamps. Check them out: www.purpleoniondesigns.com .
Oh yeah - I must mention I DO NOT SCRAPBOOK. I am a cardmaker and stamper primarily, but I like to dabble in other papercraft occasionally.
Let me know what you think of the journal.

It's here!

Finally, I've started a blog. It's in vogue, and besides it's good for personal reflection.
I aim to post at least once a week. (If I say it quickly it doesn't sound too daunting).
Feel free to leave a comment, it amuses me.
